Bio

I’ve been writing since my parents forced me to leave my room to watch television so I would develop normally. I leveraged my experience as a registered nurse to become a freelance writer covering health care, marketing, and organizational performance before breaking into journalism. My education reporting helped me land a dream job as a school district public relations director from which I retired.

I  live in Ames, Iowa with my husband Scott, and my long-haired dachshund Roger. When I’m not writing or composing, I’m spending time with my six adult children and their partners, immersing myself in the imaginative lives of my eight grandchildren, keeping up with friends, and building reciprocal relationships with people who are sometimes overlooked, such as adults with autism.
